Blue Ribbon Auction
What happens at the Blue Ribbon Auction?? The Blue Ribbon Auction participants are 4-H'ers who earned a blue ribbon on their livestock project in beef, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, dairy, and goats and auction bidders!
The auction bidders are local businesses who support the 4-H'ers by making a donation in the form of bidding. These monies are often used by 4-H'ers as they continue their livestock projects in the future.
Youth intending to participate will be responsible for inviting businesses and individuals to the auction to bid on their photo. Blue Ribbon Auction Bidder Contracts are due August 18th they should be turned in at the 4-H building by 4:00 pm!
NEW FOR THE BLUE RIBBON AUCTION !
We have removed the maximum bid and new this year: the 4-H member will receive 75% of the proceeds and 25% will go to the Carlton County Federation for Animal Science Programs !

Need Chaperones for State Fair!
Attention parents and adult volunteers! When was the last time you attended the Minnesota State Fair? Did you know that it is the second largest state fair in the nation? Would you like to experience this great gathering? If so, consider being a Carlton County 4-H chaperone!
Benefits of being a chaperone:
- Free entry pass.
- Free meal passes to eat at the 4-H building or livestock barns.
- A chance to see our wonderful 4-H’ers in action!
The state fair dormitory staff requires at least one male and one female chaperone for each encampment. Additional chaperones may be needed to meet the adult-to-youth ratio established by Minnesota 4-H and the Minnesota State Fair. To be a state fair chaperone, you must be a screened volunteer and sign up with Katie. Training will be provided.
Mark your calendars for State Fair:
- Livestock Encampment: August 24 - 28, 2022
- General Encampment 3: September 1 - 3, 2022

Please Take the 2022 Youth Outcome Survey!
Who takes the survey?
All 3rd grade youth and older who have participated in a full 4-H program year. This might be a club experience, a long term program or group, or an intense camp experience. We want to make sure youth have fully experienced 4-H before evaluating our program outcomes.
Why do we use it?
The survey helps us to see how our programs are meeting the needs of our youth and places where we can improve. It is our chance to make sure all youth in 4-H have the opportunity to meet program outcomes related to learning and leading, and to collect feedback on member experiences in 4-H programs.
Why is this survey so important?
Data! The information from this survey is of the most requested and used data for our programs – it’s your chance to share program outcome data with your stakeholders! The YOS helps all of us work to make 4-H a better experience, from program development and policy to grant writing.
This survey will be available at the Carlton County Fair for families to fill out. Plan to take a few minutes to fill them out during Static Judging Day and through out the county fair!
